DWIBS is an advanced whole-body MRI screening method designed to visualize cancer and other abnormalities without radiation exposure or radioactive tracers.Compared with PET-CT, DWIBS does not require an injection of radioactive examination drugs, does not involve X-ray radiation exposure, and can be completed in approximately 30 minutes.
It is also described as a screening option that may be available for diabetic patients, depending on the case.
DWIBS whole-body MRI can support screening for various cancers and conditions, including lung cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, bile duct and gallbladder cancer, breast cancer, malignant lymphoma, prostate cancer, esophageal cancer, and bladder cancer.Please note that some conditions may require other types of examinations. For example, endoscopy is recommended for stomach cancer, and blood tests are recommended for leukemia.
Dr. Taro Takahara is a board-certified radiologist and medical doctor who developed DWIBS, an advanced whole-body MRI technique used for cancer screening.
He is the Lead Physician for DWIBS Search, an MRI-based breast screening program designed to reduce the discomfort associated with conventional breast examinations. He also holds academic positions, including Visiting Professor at Akita University and Clinical Professor at Institute of Science Tokyo.
In 1995, Dr. Takahara developed a clinical application of an oral contrast agent for MRCP. In 2004, he developed DWIBS, an MRI-based cancer screening method that enables whole-body imaging without radiation exposure.
Dr. Takahara is a rare radiologist with deep expertise in both MRI image acquisition and diagnostic interpretation.
